What is EarthBound?
EarthBound cannot simply be described as “a game.”
The more appropriate term to describe Earthbound would be “an experience”. Earthbound is what many hail to be the best RPG ever made for the SNES, and most everyone can agree that it falls into the “classics” category regardless. It may not be the best game ever made, but it has found its way into the hearts of many fans, and many easily refer to it as their favorite game.

So what exactly makes EarthBound such a success? But then again, who said it was successful? Here in the states, EB was not properly marketed, and since the graphics were considered lack-luster, people weren’t drawn to the game, simply passing it by without playing it. But the ones who have played it can tell you from experience the incredible thing that is EarthBound.

As an average 13-year-old boy named Ness, you’ve been faced with an awesome goal. Destroy the evil Giygas, the cosmic destroyer. But first you’ve got to hone your powers, and maybe pick up a bite to eat at the local burger joint. Along your journey you are sure to find some interesting characters. Aliens, Hippies, Crazed Mushrooms, Cultists, Blue Cows, evil electric guitars, and even a sea serpent.

You cannot simply read about EarthBound and expect to get the full effect. Watching the videos on this site will mean so much more if you know the experiences firsthand. I highly encourage everyone to play EarthBound, and to seek out more info at the top EarthBound information site on the web, Starmen.net.
