Synopsis

The episode begins as Ness, Paula and Jeff arrive in Threed. They receive a warm welcome from the residents, thanking them for getting rid of the zombies. They then wait up by the bus stop, Ness standing in the streets despite his friends' warnings. The bus then arrives and nearly hit Ness but is stopped thanks to Paula's PSI Freeze ß. After they boarded the bus, it heads off toward the Dusty Dunes Desert. The bus is however stuck in a traffic jam after reaching the desert. The Chosen Three then starts to have doubt about their driver's intentions. As Busdriver seems to do an action unknown to the listeners, Ness orders Paula to open the door and Jeff plants a bomb in the bus. They then proceed to run away from the bus as it explodes, taking 5 other cars with it. With the remains of the 6 vehicles molten together, the three has no choice but finish the road by foot.

Ness notices a drugstore with the sign saying "Drugs". Paula points him out that it's obviously a drugstore. Meanwhile, Jeff goes behind the store to meet with an Arms Dealer. He then proceeds to buy from him 3 Bottle Rockets, 2 Bombs and an upgraded Mach 7 Automatic Laser Beam Rifle Gun that doubles as a Money laser. They then resume their walk through the desert when Jeff takes Ness and Paula's attention by threatening them with his gun after they ignored him. He shows them the White Sesame Seed and she explains her problem about Black Sesame Seed. While Ness is dumbfounded about the fact that White Sesame Seed can talk, Paula keeps inquiring about the matter. After she loses patience about Ness' lack of interest on the seed's problems, she sets out to find the Black Sesame Seed on her own.

Ness and Jeff then arrives at the cabin of the Montague Brothers and meet up with George and Gerardo. As Ness gives to a starved Gerardo a couple days old hamburger, Gerardo explains his story about his ex-girlfriend called Samantha and his current problem. He then promises the boys he will give them any treasure he finds like if they were "his little Samanthas". George then jumps in, warning them that they should leave before things goes bad.

The two boys then reunite with Paula as she is gambling on a slot game ran by 3 mexicans. They then find out Paula lost $12,000 in gambling and as they realize how poor they've become, they head out to Fourside.

Cultural References

  • The voice of the bus driver is made up of Mechbeth voice clips from Starfox 64.
  • Money laser is a recurring joke in the Radio PSI community and requires a bit of explanation. In the summer of 2007, as EarthBound Funktastic Gameplay Summer (EBFGPS) approached, JamesPicard007 approached Stephen about doing some sort of videos for each GPP (Gameplay Point). Stephen agreed, and they sought out the comedic writing talent of FlyingZamboni2 to create the episodic shorts. In the first episode of the GPP videos, Lier X Agerate tells Ness he is going to sell the Mani Mani Statue and use the money to buy a money laser. Because of the delayed nature of EBFGPS that year, to the point it didn't happen at all in 2007, the video was never released publicly. Stephen did, however, show the video to a select few, Benjamin being one of these people. It was a common joke for him to use clips from the GPP1 video in his show occasionally, specifically the money laser part. Over time the audience became used to the joke, and later were not surprised to see it pop up in FaB. Many assume that the money laser line is from FaB, when in fact it was written by FlyingZamboni2 for something completely different back in mid-2007.

Notes

  • "I can stand in the road if I want to. You're not my mother." In Earthbound, you actually can't call the bus if you're standing in the road.
  • "Jeff and me don't need you to beat the game anyway." - in fact, they do.
  • This marks Paula's third addiction: First cigarettes, then video games, now gambling.
