Name

Frank Fly's original prototype for the Frankystein (titled "Frankystein Mark I") was made out of potatoes, rendering it unable to fight against Ness. The reason being that a shark named Kenny's dad is a farmer, meaning that they could take as many potatoes as they needed for free for whatever purpose the Sharks needed them for.

Synopsis

Once the episode begins, Ness is in the Onett arcades where he encounters a member of the Sharks. After a comical argument about video games, the Shark tells Ness to go away, saying he cannot meet Frank without being a member of the gang. Ness then asked the Shark what would happen if he said he wanted to be a member and then what would happen if he asked the opposite. The Shark then reveals to Ness that he is just a generic NPC but because of the latter answer, he was programmed to attack him. After easely dispatching the Shark, Ness reaches the arcade's backyard where he meets Frank. After angering Frank, the two battles and Ness ends up as the winner. Frank is then about to unleash his battle robot, Frankystein Mk II, when another Shark tells him that the Mark II was not ready to use. After Frank finds out his Mark I was also unable to combat due to it being made of potatoes, he has no choice but to give up and befriend Ness. He then offers him a Coke but Ness declines, saying he prefered Pepsi instead.

  • Ness mentions he wanted to play some Donkey Kongs. Donkey Kong is an old arcade game that came out in 1981 which introduced two of Nintendo's icons, Donkey Kong and Mario (at that time named Jumpman).
  • The sound clip played when Ness beats up the first Shark is a clip from Shaq Fu, a video-game infamously known for being a very bad video-game.
  • Ness tells the first Shark member that the game the gang members were used to play gave him bad memories, he said he didn't wanted his heart temporarily failing every few minutes for one fifth of an hour. This is a reference to a post made by Midna in the Starmen.net forums.
  • When Frank Fly offers Ness a coke, he replies with "I prefer Pepsi." The song that proceeds to play is an old Pepsi advertisement. This advertisement would go on to become a recurring joke in the series.
