Name
Instead of fighting the Titanic Ant, Ness used Raid to defeat this evil bug. Thus, Ness was now "Ness the Exterminator" (not said in the episode).
Synopsis
The episode begins with Ness at the Town Hall, seeking Mayor B.H. Pirkle. As he reaches his office, Pirkle is in the middle of telling his version of how he defeated the Sharks. He quickly interrupt his story as he sees Ness. As he's about to ask what he could do for him, Ness noticed what seemed to be a button that triggers some sort of nuclear attack. The mayor quickly interrupt him, gives him the Key to the Shack and sends his bodyguard to show Ness the exit.
While outside, Ness is approached by one of the Traveling Entertainers, wishing him to try to open the shack with it. As it opens and the Entertainer leaves, Ness decides to explore the Onett Caves beyond the shack. He finds a cold remedy and reaches the summit where he finds a Shiny Spot, revealing itself as the Titanic Ant, guardian of the Giant Step, the first of the Your Sanctuary locations. As the Titanic Ant is about to assault Ness, he catches him by surprise by using a spray can of Raid, defeating Titanic Ant instantly.
At the Giant Step, Ness remembers fun memories and then attempts to leave but is stopped by Buzz Buzz. He then proceeded to explain how did he managed to survive the attack of Lardna Minch into a way similar than most of his speeches: long and sometimes dull. After finishing his speech, he proceeds to explain Ness that without the Sound Stone, the same Sound Stone he left into Tracy's hands, he cannot obtain the power of the sanctuaries. After Ness ran back home and then returned to the Giant Step with the stone, he learns how to collect the melody of the sanctuary. Buzz Buzz then repeat his long speech about the sanctuaries until Ness loses his patience and attacks him. However, he miscalculated and killed him in the process.
At the end, the narrator proceeds with his closing comment when Buzz Buzz interrupts him. The narrator then proceeds to finish off Buzz Buzz.
Earthbound References
- While Buzz Buzz explained how he survived, he asked Ness if he wanted to hear his long speech again. Ness answers yes by mistake and after realizing it, pleads Buzz Buzz to stop as the bug proceeds to repeat his speech. This is a joke referring to Buzz Buzz's dying speech in the game where, after asking since the beginning in the game a question that required a Yes to proceed, he asks a question where a No is necessary. Players who get bored of the speeches or simply want to get through it faster normally ends up choosing Yes by mistake, thus making the speech cycle until No is selected.
