Synopsis

Ness wanders around Happy Happy Village, confused about everything being blue. As he asks a man some information, he finds out this man, along with a fat kid, kidnapped Paula and locked her away in a cabin by the mountain. After the man realizes his mistake, he tries to convince Ness what he said was false but fails. Ness proceeds into the tunnel leading to the mountain side of Peaceful Rest Valley and finds the cabin. Inside he meets with an infuriated Paula. After Paula gives Ness the Franklin Badge and some informations about how to free her, Ness heads out to Happy Happy Village but is stopped by Pokey Minch, now a part of the cult. He sends two Happy Happyists after Ness before running away. At this moment, the ending music starts and the narrator seems to leave the episode in a cliffhanger until 2008 but then replies that the show will proceed as normal and that Ness defeated the cultists.

Ness finally reaches the main building of Happy Happy village where the cultists reunites for prayers. After passing through a bunch of cultists and even ending up fighting one, he finally reaches the upper floor where he meets Mr. Carpainter, the leader of the cult. He is then surprised to find out Mr. Carpainter is in fact Al Gore. Al Gore reveals that he planned to protect the world from global warming and that he kidnapped Paula to use her PSI powers to freeze the polar icecaps for good. He then reveals that it was indeed Pokey who brought the Mani Mani statue and that, since then, many people joined the village. Ness, on the other hand, claims that global warming is nothing but garbage, sending Al Gore into a fury. Al Gore proceeds to send lightnings at Ness but the Franklin Badge reflected them away. They end up battling and Ness comes out as the victor. Al Gore then promises to stop complaining about global warming and gives Ness the key to the cabin's cell.

After Ness rescue Paula from the cabin, they venture into the reformed Happy Happy Village and hears something from a nearby cave. However, before they can explore it, the narrator ends the episode.

Cultural references

  • The Mother 3 Deluxe box was a bundle selling Mother 3 along with a Game Boy Micro and a plastic (someone double check that it wasn't metal) Franklin badge.
  • The false ending when Pokey sends the Happy Happyists is a reference to Ubsey Movies' Earthbound Saga where at the end of its 3rd chapter, the ending music played as Ness engaged the Happy Happyists. Since then, there was no plans for a 4th chapter until September 2008. The fact that the narrator said "because we're not a bunch of rabbits" supports that idea as Ubsey Movies' mascot is a rabbit. Stephen Georg originally came up with the line, adding to his fake hatred of UbseyMovies for creating another EarthBound video series.

Notes

  • This is Paula's first on screen episode.
  • In this episode, Paula admits she has some anger issues.
  • The line "Oh yeah, I saw that on Play-Asia" was improvised.
